The hotel room that we spent the night in was the best thing that Mason had ever seen. Key features of the room were the flat panel TV that included a video game hand set, and the in room coffee maker!
Our Saturday started with breakfast and a cab ride! (way too exciting . . . we really need to get out more!)
We made it to the Shedd Aquarium and the kids were really excited to see the Sponge Bob Square Pants 4-D movie. After being greeted to the museum by a friendly Beluga Whale, the kids were ready to see the show. After a thousand questions about 3-D and 4-D (and after I tried to explain physics to 2 kids with combined ages of just under 14) we picked-up our 3-D glasses. The lights go down and the music starts, some nice swimming fish go by, then . . . a 3-D snake jumps straight towards the camera; then rats running on the floor complete with air puffing at your ankles to make it feel like they are REALLY running by your ankles . . .
Well, Chloe jumped onto my lap, ripped off the glasses and said she would just wait until the Sponge Bob part came on to try the 3-D again. Freaked out, Mason pulled his feet up and asked to leave the theatre! Both kids thought the 4-D film was mucho creepy and they vowed to NEVER see a 4-D movie again!
*Note to self: kids not ready for Disney
The rest of the time we spent at Shedd was filled with Dipp'n Dots, dolphin shows, a Kimono Dragon (120 lb lizard), and various turtles and fish of all kinds.
We walked a while and found our way to Millennium Park. They were having an ice sculpture festival. There were fun activities and the reflective bean thing was very neat! For dinner we stopped at Gino's East and each kid got to autograph the wall with a Sharpie.
Next time in Chicago I think we need to hit the Blue Man Group, Mason wants to see the Lego store and the girls want to go to the American Girl store.
That stuff is 4-D too, but I won't tell the kids!
