Homework Suprise . . .

Homework can be a little different when Dad is in charge. I never seem to stick to the review sheet and I often blend subjects together.

A week or two ago, as I was helping Chloe study for her science test, Mason came around. That night the topic was "Living Things". We read the chapter, discussed characteristics of living things, looked at the review sheet and talked about how penguins are different/similar to horses, etc . . .

Mason is often asking for homework (I guess pre-school doesn't give enough homework these days) and I try to give him work in the same subject that Chloe is working-on. He heard us & joined in the discussion of living things.

You may already know this, but let it be said now, "both of my kids are genius smart". Being geniuses, they know a good answer when they hear one. I will often find that when I ask the same question to each kid, I will get very similar answers so I usually change the question enough to keep them on their toes.

One of Chloe's review questions was, "Name a living thing". Chloe answered something from her text book chapter like dog, cat, tree, or some other thing that was 100% correct. I smiled, we gave high-fives and life was good. The question I posed to Mason was slightly different; "Name a non-living thing."

I fully expected an answer worthy of a genius . . . like "book", "rock" or "Sassy". The answer I got, after about 15-20 seconds of thinking, spoken with confidence that you only use when you know you are right in every way - "a ZOMBIE!"

100% correct . . .
